Scarf design 1

For the scarf I made I tried to make as many flowers in different colours as possible with 4 colours. 

Voor mijn sjaal wilde ik met vier kleuren wol zoveel mogelijke verschillende kleuren bloemen maken, waarbij elke bloem bestaat uit 3 kleuren.

For the pattern I chose a Japanese flower motive, but you could use any motive for this. You can find instructions in the tutorial for Japanese flowers in the right-hand column. 

 Als motief heb ik een Japanse bloem motief gekozen, maar dit kan natuurlijk met ieder motief. Je kunt een beschrijving vinden voor de Japanse bloemen in de tutorial in de rechterkolom.

I designed a sheet with several circles consisting of 3 circles each, so that I sould draw the three colours that I will need for the flowers. This comes to a total of 24 flowers, all different.

Op de computer heb ik een blad ontworpen met meerdere rondjes die ieder uit 3 cirkels bestaan, zodat ik hier de 3 kleuren in kan tekenen die ik nodig heb voor het Japanse bloem patroon. Dit komt totaal op 24 verschillende bloemen, die allemaal verschillen.

Then I cut them out and moved them around to design the result that you want. 

Vervolgens heb ik ze uitgeknipt ik ze uit en nu kan je gaan schuiven met de rondjes tot het gewenste resultaat.

Motten 7

Hierboven zie je een foto van mijn werk zoals dat te zien is in 't Kruithuis van Den Bosch.
De tentoonstelling werd afgelopen zondag feestelijk geopend met het werpen van  honderden vilten kanonskogels.

The exhibition was officially opened on Sunday by throwing hundreds of felt cannonballs.

Er is veel verschillend werk te zien; heel divers en van een hoog niveau. In het museum is ook nog een winkeltje waar wat werk te koop is o.a. een aantal van mijn "motten kasten".

A lot of different work is shown, very diverse and at a high standard. There is also a shop in the museum where some smaller work is for sale including some of my "moth boxes".

New felt book

This is my entry in the new felt book "Vilten is voor mij..." ("Felt means for me... ") by Ellen Bakker. I think the book turned out beautifully and I'm really proud to be part of this project. There are 92 different entries in the book, including many felt friends, with works ranging from clothes to abstract sculptures. You can find more information about the book and pictures at Ellen's website. 

Dit is mijn pagina in het nieuwe viltboek met de titel "Vilten is voor mij..." van Ellen Bakker.
Ik vind het een heel mooi boek geworden en ik ben trots dat ik erin sta. Er staan 92 verschillende viltsters in, waaronder veel viltvriendinnen, met werken die uiteenlopen van kleding tot abstracte sculpturen.

Kruithuis Den Bosch, vilt expositie

De uitnodiging voor de expositie 20 jaar vilt.

My work for the exhibition is finished and handed in. To see all the beautiful felt, everyone can come to the opening in Het Kruithuis in 's Hertogenbosch on Sunday 22 January. The exhibit is on until March 4th and it's open from Wednesday to Sunday from 12.00-17.00

Mijn werk voor de tentoonstelling is af en ingeleverd. Om al het prachtige viltwerk te zien kan iedereen naar de opening komen in het Kruithuis in 's Hertogenbosch op zondag 22 januari. De tentoonstelling duurt tot en met 4  maart en is geopend van woensdag t/m zondag van 12.00-17.00.

Felt and Leather

Felt square 26 x 36 cm. Lap vilt van 26 bij 36 cm.

I made a bag out of all kinds of blue and brown leftover scraps of felt. The two embroidered squares ar at the back of the bag. The leather front flap has two magnetic snaps.

Ik heb een tas gemaakt van allerlei blauwe en bruine vilt restjes.  De twee geborduurde stukjes vilt zijn op de achterkant van de tas terug te vinden.

Aan de voorkant van de tas zit de leren flap met twee magneet sluitingen.

Reliëfborduren

Vandaag heb ik een workshop reliëfborduren gevolgd bij Adrian Salomé.

Deze workshop was gebaseerd op de techniek van de Hongaar Kaszás Ákos,

een prachtige borduurtechniek, maar zeker niet makkelijk om te leren.

Adrian is iemand die ik al een tijdje bewonder om haar geweldige kleurgebruik in haar viltwerk.

Today I attended a workshop about embroidering felt in relief with Adrian Salomé. The workshop was based on the technique of the Hungarian Kaszás Ákos, a beautiful embroidery technique but not easy to learn. I have been a long time admirer of Adrian's amazing use of colour in her work.

 Dit apparaat had Adrian ook meegenomen. Het dient om touw op te maken. Wij gebruikten het om een wollen koord te maken voor het hengsel van de tasjes.  Dit apparaat komt oorspronkelijk uit Hongarije en je moet hem met zijn drieën bedienen.

Ik heb mijn zelfgesponnen 3-draads wol gebruikt, wat prima ging, om dit koord te maken.

Adrian also brought this machine along. It is used to make ropes. We used it to make a woolen strap for the bags we made. This machine is originally from Hungary and it takes three people to use it. I used the 3 strand yearn that I spun myself to make this strap, which worked fine.
